London:
Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z are "in heaven" following the birth of their first child.
The couple - who welcomed baby daughter Blue Ivy into the world on Saturday (07.01.12) - confirmed the 'Halo' singer opted for a natural birth, contrary to reports she had undergone a Caesarean section, and explained the process was "emotional and extremely peaceful".
In their first official statement since becoming parents, the couple said: "Hello Hello Baby Blue! We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012.
"Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven. She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs and it was the best experience of both of our lives.
"We are thankful to everyone for all your prayers, well wishes, love and support."
In new track 'Glory' - which was penned by Jay-Z shortly after the birth of Blue Ivy - the rapper alludes to the fact that he and Beyonce may have suffered a miscarriage before falling pregnant with their daughter.
The lyrics state: "The most amazing feeling I feel, words can't describe what I'm feeling for real / Baby, I paint the sky blue, my greatest creation was you.
"You're the child of destiny / you're the child of my destiny / you're my child with the child from Destiny's Child.
"Last time the miscarriage was tragic / We was afraid you'd disappear but nah baby you're magic."
