Wishing his fans a wonderful start to the new year, veteran Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar says that the new beginning brings back old memories to him.
"I am wishing all of you a wonderful start to 2012 and pray that the year gives us pleasant times and many, manyreasons to smile and feel on top of the world each day of the year," Kumar wrote on his blog.
The actor, who turned 89 last month, also remembered hiswife, Saira Banu's mother on her birth anniversary.
"Personally, it is not just the beginning of a new yearfor me. It is replete with beautiful memories. It is Saira'smother Naseem Banuji's (Appaji) birthday and my thoughts turnto her and the way she made a difference to our lives.
"My thoughts turn right now to Appaji and the quiet,unobtrusive way she made sure I was living the life that evena king would have envied. She was the epitome of beauty, graceand refinement and it reflected in her speech and manners," hesaid.
The actor also said how his mother-in-law would make thefirst day of the year special for everyone by giving somegorgeous surprises.
"Appaji always made January 1 special not for herself butfor all of us by giving us a lovely day with some gorgeoussurprises..."
"Saira and I have accepted the will of God and learned tolive without her but not a day passes without our thoughtsrecapturing her contribution to the strength of our marriageand love for each other. Appaji, we love you," he added.
