Mumbai: Filmmaker Sushil Rajpal, whose Antardwand, based on a real-life incident of forced marriage by kidnapping a groom, is looking for distributors in Bihar.

"PVR is releasing the movie nationwide on August 27 with 125 prints. As they have no presence in Bihar, they would not be releasing the movie there," said Rajpal.

"However, the movie is set in Bihar and it is necessary that the movie releases there. Hence, I am looking for distributors in Bihar. Or else, I would release it myself," he said.

Ad film cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Rajpal said his maiden venture as a director is based on a real incident to which he was a witness.

"Kidnapping grooms and forcing them into marriage is rampant in Bihar. Last year alone, over 1,000 such cases were registered. One of my friends was also a victim. So when I decided to make a movie, this subject instantly came to my mind," he said.

With the backdrop of forced marriage, I have tried to show how the social ill affects everyone in the family, he added.

The movie has already bagged the 55th national award for best film in social cause and best actress award at MAMI.

On the expected commercial success of the movie, Rajpal said, it is more important that the movie gets released.

"Only because it bagged a National last year, PVR stepped in. It is more important that such social based movies get theatrical release. People should know what is happening around them. The idea is not to concentrate on its commercial success," he added.
