Much to fans' dismay, Imtiaz Ali and Shahid Kapoor are not doing a film together, reports news agency PTI. During a recent media interaction, Imtiaz Ali dismissed rumours about teaming up with Shahid, which were doing the round soon after Shahid Kapoor expressed his excitement on working with the filmmaker for an "interesting project" in December last year. When Imtiaz was asked about the project, he told PTI: "I never announced a film. I never said I am making a film. I never said I am working with Shahid Kapoor. So now when people ask me that the film is not happening, I reply, which film?" The 47 year-old filmmaker, who has earlier worked with Shahid in the 2007 hit film Jab We Met added, "I never said it. Jisne bola usko bolo (Talk to the person who spoke about it). There's no truth to it."
Imtiaz also mentioned during the interview that the rumours could be attributed to the fact that he is often spotted meeting actors. "There will be more news like this because the fact is, I keep meeting actors and there is always going to be some speculation," IANS quoted him as saying.
Speaking to PTI, Imtiaz also talked about his decision of producing his brother Sajid Ali's upcoming film Laila Majnu and told PTI: "I have turned producer so I have to keep some material ready... The only asset that you have in this work is script."
Imtiaz Ali's made his directorial debut with the 2005 film Socha Na Tha. He has directed several hit films such as Jab We Met, Rockstar and Cocktail among others. His last directorial project was Jab Harry Met Sejal, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma.
Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor awaits the release of Batti Gul Meter Chalu, opposite Shraddha Kapoor. The film is slated to release on September 21.
