Hyderabad: A Nampally court has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Telugu actor-filmmaker Jeevitha and her actor husband Rajasekhar in a dud cheque case, police said on Monday.
Petitioner Paranadhama Reddy, a financier, filed a case after a cheque for Rs 36 lakh issued by the couple bounced due to insufficient funds in the account.
"The case was filed few months back, but the couple failed to appear in court despite being summoned several times. Therefore, the court issued a non-bailable warrant and directed the police to take them into custody before Oct 29 and produce them in the court," a police official of the Jubilee Hills station told IANS.
This is not the first time Rajasekhar and Jeevitha are involved in a cheque bounce case. In 2008 and 2010, they faced the similar cases.
A popular Telugu actor, Rajasekhar has starred in nearly 100 films in his over two-decade long career, including Ankusam and Praja Teerpu.Jeevitha is an actress-turned-filmmaker is remembered for her performance in Dharma Pathini and Maruthi.As a director, she has helmed films such as Satyameva Jayate and Mahankali.
