Now, Louis Vuitton sues Hangover II

Now, Louis Vuitton sues Hangover II
Los Angeles: The Hangover II is turning out to be one of the most sued movies of this year and the latest in the line is fashion brand Louis Vuitton, which has alleged that a hand bag featured in the movie is fake.

The luxury brand filed a lawsuit in federal court in New York over a scene. The character played by Zach Galifianakis carries a bag marked LVM and admonishes another character:

"Careful, that is... that is a Louis Vuitton." The brand in its complaint, alleges that the bag is not of their company and instead made by a Chinese American company, which they are currently suing in an attempt to prevent knock-off items from being sold in the US, the Hollywood Reporter said.

The brand claims it has been damaged by the consumer confusion as the dialogue has become a sort of catchphrase.

The studio apparently refused to alter the scene before the movie is released on DVD, forcing the brand to go to the court.

The company is seeking to stop the release featuring the fake handbag and a share in the profits.

It is not first lawsuit that the movie has faced. The studio was sued earlier this year by a tattoo artist who claimed Ed Helms' tattoo was copied from the design he made for boxer Mike Tyson. That case settled.

In October, writer Michael Alan Rubin sued claiming the movie was stolen from his script about his adventures in Asia, which was dismissed.

The studio also settled a case brought by stuntman Scott McLean, who claimed he suffered brain trauma during a stunt accident.
