Bollywood's Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan's latest film PK is on a record breaking spree. Days after it claimed the title of Bollywood's all-time highest grosser, it become the first Bollywood film to make Rs 300 crore.
The actor was the first to enter the Rs 100 crore club with his 2008 film Ghajini and then again he was the first to start the Rs 200 crore club trend with Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots in 2009. And now, PK is all set to start Rs 300 club phenomenon at the box office.
The film, which released on December 19, collected Rs 305.27 crore in 17 days (as of January 4) of its release. Last week, PK became the highest grossing film of all time in the domestic market by minting Rs 263 crore in just 13 days, displacing Dhoom: 3 in the box office charts.
Meanwhile, PK also met with resistance from right-wing Hindu organisations. However, none of that deterred its growth story. On the other hand, some political leaders like BJP senior leader LK Advani hailed the movie as a "wonderful and courageous film". States like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have also given tax-free status to PK.
