New Delhi:
As the Khans bromance each other on Twitter, a separate conversation is taking place between Badlapur actor Varun Dhawan and Hollywood star Dwayne Johnson, known to wrestling fans as The Rock and whose disaster film San Andreas opened worldwide on May 29.
In response to this compliment from Varun:
The Rock, whom the Main Tera Hero star idolizes, replied:
Varun has been paying tribute to 43-year-old Dwayne Johnson for a while now, swaggering onto a TV show in the style of The Rock and dressing in a style inspired by Dwayne's look in the song Saturday Saturday from Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. They also exchanged birthday greetings on Twitter.
Just recently, film critic Rajeev Masand interviewed Dwayne Johnson in which he played the actor-wrestler a pre-recorded clip of Varun imitating his manner of speech. Varun was rewarded by his idol describing his impersonation of him as 'very good.'
Meanwhile San Andreas, which is the story of how an earthquake devastates California, opened to decent box office collections. In the interview with Rajeev Masand, the actor spoke about the impact the Nepal earthquake had on the release of the film: "We thought, 'How do we move forward with this, and don't come out looking insensitive'. So the first thing we did was to put the movie and its marketing on hold. The next best thing that we could do was to donate a lot of money, which the Warner Bros (producers) did and create awareness. And we are raising awareness through our film too. There is preparedness in the film. We were adamant and responsible about that."
In response to this compliment from Varun:
