Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor for receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

Shashi Kapoor, 77, was presented with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest honour in Indian cinema, by Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley at the iconic Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai.
The entire Kapoor khandaan attended the function, including Rishi Kapoor and his wife Neetu Singh, Shashi Kapoor's grand-niece Karisma, sisters-in-law Krishna Raj Kapoor and Neela Devi, and actor Saif Ali Khan who is married to Kareena Kapoor. So did several of Mr Kapoor's former co-stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Waheeda Rehman, Rekha, Zeenat Aman and Asha Parekh.
Shashi Kapoor is the star of films such as Deewar, Kabhi Kabhie, Namak Halaal, Sharmilee, Junoon, New Delhi Times and Merchant-Ivory films like The Householder, Heat and Dust and In Custody.
