New Delhi:
Malaika Arora is not having just another regular Monday today - there's proof on Instagram. The actress celebrated the Malayali festival of Onam with family and acquaintances of the Malayali community and posted (literally) drool worthy pictures on Instagram. Malaika, who brought in Onam festivities to social media with pictures of the traditional meal called Thiruvonam Nakshathram, continued to host more guests with friend Karisma Kapoor, sister Amrita Arora, her husband Shakeel Ladak and socialite Anu Dewan arriving in time for the muhurat. "Our Onam feast continues. I need a crane to get up," is what she captioned the pic, also featuring her mother, who has been credited for presenting the scrumptious spread.
Onam, a 10-day festival, marks the end of a harvest year in Kerala and also celebrates the arrival of a New Year for Malayali Hindus. Malaika Arora is the daughter of Anil Arora and Joyce Polycarp, who hails from Kerala. Malaika is Salman Khan's brother Arbaaz's ex-wife and the former couple are parents to a son Arhaan.
"Happy Onam my Mallu brethren... There is no meal that I love more than Onam Sadhya... and my mum Joyce Arora is just the world's bestest cook," this is what Malaika wrote for another pic. Amrita, who shared the same pic, had just one word for her mother's culinary skills - "unreal." What characterises Onam Sadhya is that it essentially comprises 26 dishes (all vegetarian) and is traditionally served on banana leaf. The payasam is usually the main attraction of the meal while pappadom, rasam, thoran, sambar and rice are some of the primary culinary delights on the menu.
Sorry, if Malaika's posts have made you hungry. That's actually all of our condition here.
Happy Onam to all of you!
