Oprah Winfrey visits Mumbai slum

Mumbai: American talk show host OprahWinfrey today visited a slum here in Colaba in south Mumbai aspart of research for her new show Oprah's Next Chapter.

"For my new show 'Oprah's Next Chapter' I am doing astory on India and I wanted to see all aspects of the countryto get a broad view of what it is like to be an Indian. It isvery revealing and very amazing to me so I met people fromBollywood and others," she told reporters here.

"What I love most about this country is their tolerance..how the families learn to love and live together. When I wasin America and talking to famous people...I would ask how you(Indians) live with your parents, now I see how you do it,"she said.

"I am not just doing one story I am doing five hours onIndia," she added.

Oprah came to Mumbai yesterday and has been stationed atthe famous Taj Mahal hotel in Colaba.

Last night she had attended a star-studded party hostedby socialite Parmeshwar Godrej at her residence.

The 57-year-old wore an orange colour saree designed byTarun Tahiliani for the party last night. She said she wouldsoon wear an outfit designed by popular designer SabyasachiMukherjee.

Oprah is in India for Next Chapter a new series of herfamous talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show in which, she wouldtravel around the world interviewing celebrities, news-makersand others.

"I would be interviewing Dr Deepak Chopra. I have neverseen India before. I actually came to meet Chopra who is afriend," Oprah said. She would be interviewing writer Chopraon January 21.

Asked to sum up her visit to the city, she said, "Itsjust been a day."

Oprah would attend the Jaipur Literature Festival to beheld from January 20-24. She is also expected to shoot aportion of her show at the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. She wouldbe flying back to the US on January 22.
