Bombay Jayshri, the sole Indiannominee at the this year's Oscars lost the Best Original Songtrophy to British singer Adele, who won the statuette for hersoulful rendition of James Bond theme Skyfall.
This is the very first James Bond theme to win an Oscar.The 24-year-old singer went into the elite competitionlooking like the smart bet to bring home the trophy as thesong became an instant classic after its release.
The British songstress, who also performed the song atthe ceremony, co-wrote it with Paul Epworth especially for thefilm and the opening words 'This is the end' fit perfectlywith the film's themes of death and rebirth.
"This is amazing... thank you for believing in me," saida teary eyed Adele while accepting her trophy at theglittering award ceremony.
Adele defeated Jayashri's Pi's Lullaby from Life Of Piwhich she co-wrote with composer Michael Danna and latesitarist Ravi Shankar's daughter Norah Jones for EverybodyNeeds a Friend from 'Ted'.
