New Delhi:
The Golden Globes this year may have had Bill Clinton, but the Oscars had Michelle Obama.
The US First Lady made a surprise appearance via video link to announce the final and biggest prize of the Oscars - Best Picture, which went to Ben Affleck's Argo.
Mrs Obama wore a silver beaded Naeem Khan dress to announce the winner. The Oscar was presented on stage by actor Jack Nicholson.
In her speech, Mrs Obama paid tribute to this year's Best Picture nominees: "These nine movies took us back in time and all around the world. They made us laugh, made us weep and they made us grip our armrests just a little tighter."
She then fumbled a little with the envelope, as a White House aide rushed to help and was waved away, and then announced Argo's win.
Former US President Bill Clinton introduced Steven Spielberg's Lincoln, a nominee for Best Picture - Drama, at the Golden Globes last month.
