Actor John Travolta, or what looked like a wax model of him, made a spectacle of himself at the Oscars again, first by creepily kissing Scarlett Johannsson on the red carpet and then by creepily touching co-presenter Idina Menzel's face during the show.
As celebrities sashayed or swaggered down the red-carpeted Hollywood Boulevard, Mr Travolta ditched his wife Kelly Preston to sneak around an unsuspecting ScarJo and plant a smackeroo on her cheek. He then walked away, leaving her looking like she had no idea what just happened. (Also Read: Birdman Takes Flight. 4 Wins, Including Best Film and Director)
After ambushing ScarJo, Mr Travolta made his next appearance on stage to present the Oscar for Best Original Song with singer Idina Menzel. Last year, his fumble over her name as he introduced her as 'Adele Dazeem' sent social media into paroxysms. This year, in what was meant to be a public delivery of Hollywood-style justice, Idina walked out first and asked everyone to welcome her 'very dear friend, Glom Gazingo.' It was revenge, best served a year later. Or it would have been if it hadn't been ruined by Mr Travolta's pawing of Idina's face. (Also Read: How It Happened)
As host Neil Patrick Harris put it later when he closed the show, "Next year, Travolta will be back to apologize for all the face touching."
Twitter also ripped into the Grease star:
