London:
Socialite heiress Paris Hilton, known for her love for dogs, has adopted a new dog from The Animal Foundation shelter in Las Vegas.
She has given home to a three-year-old Chihuahua, reports contactmusic.com.
Hilton reposted a Twitter message on the The Animal Foundation Page, which read: "Paris Hilton helps shelter animals... adopts three-year-old Chihuahua from Vegas."
In another entry, the organisation also posted a photograph showing her collecting the dog after it had been neutered. The process of neutering involves either the removal or sterilisation of an animal's reproductive organ so that it can't reproduce.
The organisation also thanked Hilton for taking in a dog.
The 29-year-old has also urged her fans to adopt a pet rather than buy a puppy or kitten.
"This Chirstmas if you're thinking of getting a dog or cat, get one at your local animal shelter. Save a Life. Don't Shop, Adopt," she tweeted.
Hilton already has several other dogs, a hamster and a miniature pig.
