New Delhi: Peaches Geldof, the 25-year-old daughter of rock star Sir Bob Geldof and TV personality Paula Yates, died suddenly at home in England on April 7. Her death is the third tragedy connected to the Geldof family. Her mother Paula died of a drug overdose in 2000 when Peaches was just 11. In 1997, Paula's partner of two years and INXS frontman Michael Hutchence committed suicide.
Peaches' last tweet, a day before she died, was a photograph of her as a toddler in her mother's arms.
Peaches was the second daughter of The Boomtown Rats singer and Live Aid organiser Sir Bob Geldof who also had daughters Fifi Trixiebelle and Pixie with wife Paula Yates. After the deaths of Hutchence and Yates, Sir Bob adopted their daughter Tiger Lily.
Peaches Geldof was born on March 13, 1989 and grew up in Chelsea and London. She studied at the Queen's College in London and then briefly moved to New York before returning. Peaches worked variously as a journalist, TV presenter and model. She wrote a column in fashion magazine Elle Girl, several pieces for liberal paper The Guardian and a column for The Daily Telegraph.
She debuted on TV with the show Peaches Geldof: Teenage Mind. She continued her small screen career with shows like Peaches Geldof: Teen America, Peaches: Disappear Here and finally OMG! With Peaches Geldof in 2011.
She walked the ramp for the first time in 2007 at the London Fashion Week for PPQ. She was then signed on as the face of Australian fashion line Dotti in the same year. Two years later, she was signed on as the face of Miss Ultimo Collection only to be fired in March 2010 over allegations of drug abuse.
Despite her youth, Peaches was among Britain's best-known and most-photographed celebrities, often hailed for her fashion-forwardness.
Peaches was married twice, first to American musician Max Drummey when she was 19 and then to singer Thomas Cohen in September 2012. She is survived by her husband and two sons, two-year-old Astala and 11-month-old Phaedra.
