Mahmood Farooqui, co-director of Bollywood film Peepli Live who is facing trial for the alleged rape of an American woman researcher, had forced himself upon the woman, a mutual friend told a court in New Delhi on October 6.
Danish Hussain, who introduced the American woman to Mr Farooqui, told Additional Sessions Judge Sanjiv Jain that the woman sent him a mobile text message saying that she was sexually assaulted by the filmmaker.
Mr Hussain testified as a prosecution witness in the case.
Recording of statements of prosecution witnesses would continue on October 7.

The court framed rape charges on September 2 against Mahmood Farooqui, who is in judicial custody since June 20. He was chargesheeted in July.
