New Delhi: Mahmood Farooqui, co-director of Bollywood film Peepli Live, who is facing trial for the alleged rape of an American woman, sought interim bail on October 14.

Mr Farooqui is in judicial custody since June 20.(Also Read: Peepli Live Co-Director 'Forced Himself' on American Researcher, Court is Told)

Mr Farooqui told Additional Sessions Judge Sanjiv Jain that his father was suffering from bleeding haemorrhoids and had not fully recovered from a paralytic stroke.

In his interim bail application, he stated that all the public witnesses had been examined and there was no threat to the victim or any witness.

The court asked Delhi Police to file a response on Thursday.

Delhi Police have accused Mr Farooqui of raping a 35-year-old woman who was pursuing PhD from Columbia University and was in India for research work.
