New Delhi: Ready or not, Pehredaar Piya Ki is all set for a comeback. Sony TV tweeted the first promo of the show's second season after the first season of the show ended abruptly after airing 33 odd episodes. In the promo, lead actress Tejaswi Prakash re-introduces herself as Diya and tells the audience that she'll be back in November. In the promo Diya still resides in a lavish haveli and has the same demeanor. The showrunners, who had to take the show off-air after a petition in change.org changed the fate of Pehredaar Piya Ki, had earlier promised to return with 'a better story' soon.

Pehredaar Piya Ki was criticised for its regressive content in which 10-year-old Ratan Maan Singh (played by Afaan Khan) is shown married to an 18-year-old Diya (Tejaswi). A petition addressed to Smriti Irani, Minister of Information & Broadcast, changed the fate of the show. After severe backlash, Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC) asked the channel to move the show out of prime time (from 8.30 pm to 10 pm) and later it was taken off air. "We treat audience as an asset so we don't want to lose them. We will return with a new show and the same team very soon. In fact, we have started working on the same. The next show will have a better story. The actors will be with us till then," producer Sumeet Mittal told Times Of India.
As per reports, the new season of Pehredaar Piya Ki will start after a time leap, in which Ratan would be grown up and return from London, where he was sent off to complete his education. Diya and Ratan will remain married and the show's story will take off from there.
Meanwhile, the makers of Pehredaar Piya Ki were simultaneously developing the story of another show, Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai, which currently airs on television.
