London:
Rocker Pete Doherty has beensentenced to six months in prison for possession of cocaine, after a film showing him smoking the drug with film makerRobyn Whitehead the day before she died, emerged.
He was arrested with fellow musician Peter Wolfe overthe death of Whitehead, but Wolfe admitted to supplying herwith crack cocaine as opposed to a postmortem examinationthat found she died from heroin poisoning, reported TheGuardian online.
Doherty, 32, who has previously made 13 courtappearances and has been jailed twice for the same offence, wasn't given any atonement by the judge.
"You have an appalling record of committing offencesof the same kind as I have to deal with in this case. Itcannot be right that time and time again, the fact that youare a talented musician, and the fact that you provide whatyou do in terms of work for others, is justification for notsending you to prison," Judge David Radford said.
Doherty was due to perform in Glasgow before he wasarrested on Thursday.
