Mumbai:
Filmmaker Kabir Khan's espionage drama Phantom, based on the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, has minted Rs 33.18 crores in its opening weekend, tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
The movie which stars Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles, released on August 28 and minted a mere sum of Rs 8.46 crores on its opening day. The film witnessed a good growth on Saturday and Sunday by collecting Rs 12.78 crores and Rs 11.94 crores, respectively, thus taking its cumulative total to Rs 33.18 crores. Phantom continues to perform at the overseas box office as well with an approximate collection of Rs 6.62 crores in just two days.

Phantom, which centres on global terrorism, is an adaptation of the novel Mumbai Avengers. The film was banned in Pakistan following a petition by Jamaat-ud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, the mastermind behind the Mumbai mayhem.
