Los Angeles:
After seven Grammys, an Oscar and many hits, rocker Phil Collins has announced that he is retiring from music.
The English singer-songwriter said that bad health and constant barbs from critics have caused his decision to retire.
The 60-year-old Another Day In Paradise hitmaker, suffers from a dislocated vertebra, has lost some of his hearing and nerve damage makes it hard for him to hold his drumsticks.
"I don't really belong to that world and I don't think anyone's going to miss me. I'm much happier just to write myself out of the script entirely," said Collins, who is now based in Switzerland.
"I'm sorry that it was all so successful. I honestly didn't mean it to happen like that. It's hardly surprising that people grew to hate me," he added.
