Anushka plays the role of a ghost bride in Phillauri
The movie is set to release on March 24
The actress has been promoting the film by photoshopping Shashi into various situations, from the Oscar finale to a scene from Sholay.
The Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi actress' first film as producer was 2015 thriller NH10, which was critically acclaimed. When asked about what she enjoys the most between acting and producing, Anushka told IANS, "I enjoy both. I have realised that when I have too many responsibilities on me, I perform better. Acting and producing both are very different things. Like when I am on set I just do my job and when I am producing a film I have to collaborate with all, right from the inception of a film. Both are going well for me."
Directed by newcomer Anshai Lal, Phillauri is the story of a friendly ghost (Anushka) named Shashi who accidentally gets married to a manglik man, played by Suraj Sharma. The story then goes into flashback, revealing that Shashi was in love with a folk singer, played by Diljit Dosanjh. The film is releasing on March 24, clashing with Swara Bhaskar's Anaarkali Of Aarah.
Anushka Sharma says she enjoys the response to her new film, telling IANS, "I feel very happy when the audience and industry people say good things about Phillauri."
Anushka, who was last seen in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, will also be seen in Imtiaz Ali's yet-untitled film co-starring Shah Rukh Khan.
