Los Angeles:
Singer Billy Joel's guests at his annual US Independence Day party were in for a surprise when he married long-time girlfriend Alexis Roderick.
The couple exchanged vows in front of their family and close friends, the singer's spokeswoman told in an interview to People Magazine.
The intimate ceremony, which was held at Mr Joel's sprawling estate on Long Island, was presided over by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, 57, a longtime friend.
Mr Joel's daughter, singer/songwriter Alexa Ray, 29, and actor Kevin James, 50, were part of the small group of loved ones at the beautiful nuptials.
The singer, 66, and Ms Roderick, 33, an accomplished equestrian and a former Morgan Stanley executive - have been together since 2009 and are expecting their first child, a little girl, this summer.
The music legend is currently on tour, with his next sold-out stop at Boston's Fenway Park on July 16.
