Pink City to host International Fashion Week

Pink City to host International Fashion Week
New Delhi: After Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi, Jaipur is set to become the newest fashion destination to host an international fashion event with 25 Indian and three designers from abroad.

The Blenders Pride Jaipur International Fashion Week (BPJIFW), scheduled to be held from September 15 to 19 will feature one designer each from Singapore, Mauritius and Sri
Lanka besides Indian names like Puneet Nanda, Ashima-Leena,
Gunjan-Rahul and Charu Parashar among others.

Bollywood actress Anjana Sukhani, who is the brand ambassador for BPJIFW, will be walking the ramp at the opening show for designer duo Rahul and Gunjan.

"I have an emotional connect with Jaipur, since I was born there. For me it is the main reason for being a part of this event. Moreover I have been seen as a girl-next-door  and this show will bring out the sensuous side of me. Who says one cannot look sexy in traditional attire?" the model-turned actress told
PTI.

Leaving the conventional fashion hubs like Delhi and Mumbai, the designers participating in the event are determined to showcase something unusual in Jaipur.

"We would be showcasing something different that we have not done before, which will be in sync with the sensibilities of Jaipur," said Charu Parashar, a showcasing designer at the fashion week.

For grand finale designers Ashima and Leena, this fashion week is a way to re-live their 12-year-old memories of showcasing in Jaipur.

"We did a show twelve years ago in Jaipur in a splendid fort. It is a nice way to show our gratitude to the city," said Leena Singh.

Ashima, who hails from the first batch of NIFT, said, "We are really inspired by the royalty and heritage of Rajasthan. This will be a platform for us to showcase these inspirations."

Five new young designers will debut the ramp for the 'New Designer' category along with ten emerging designers,
three international designers and ten established Indian designers.

"The objective is to take fashion beyond Mumbai and Delhi to new places like Jaipur and Punjab that have their own traditional fashion and style," said Atul Pandey from Storm Fashion Company, the main organiser of the event.
