Los Angeles:
Australian actress Portia de Rossi has officially adopted her talk show host wife Ellen Degeneres' surname.
A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge has granted 37-year-old Portia's name-change petition so that she will now be known as Portia Lee James DeGeneres, reported CNN online. 'Lee' is the actress's middle name (she was born Amanda Lee Rogers), though the addition of 'James' remains unclear.
"I am thrilled to legally adopt my wife's name. I will continue to use Portia de Rossi for professional purposes," said the star, who wed DeGeneres in August 2008.
Ellen, 52, expressed her excitement on micro-blogging site Twitter by joking, "I just got some amazing news. The court has granted Portia's name change. She's now officially Portia Winfrey."
