New Delhi: Choreographer-filmmaker Prabhu Deva feels that fellow director-choreographer Remo D'Souza is a better storyteller than a dancer.
Prabhu Deva, 42, who will reprise his role of Vishnu sir in Remo's upcoming dance drama Any Body Can Dance 2, said he will not try to make a dance-based movie after watching Remo's hard work on his current project.
"I have told Remo that he is a better director than choreographer. He knows his job well. He knows what he wants. He is not strict at all. He stays very cool and gets the best from his actors," Prabhu Deva told PTI.
Prabhu Deva, who is the son of ace choreographer Mugur Sundar, also followed his father's profession. He has performed and designed a wide range of dance styles in a career spanning 25 years to earn the title of Indian Michael Jackson.
He also became one of the most successful film directors by working with actors like Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn.
In ABCD 2, the National Award-winning choreographer will show a different facet of his character. "My part is completely different. It has nothing to do with my previous role of Vishnu sir. First one was emotional while this is more vibrant and happy. I enjoyed playing my character as it has shaped up really well. As long as Remo is happy, I am happy."
A new song from ABCD 2 has been unveiled and it's a treat for the fans to see their dance icon setting the floor on fire with his flawless moves in Happy Hour.
"I think I should give the credit to Sachin-Jigar (music composers) first, because they give brilliant music and then to director Remo. The song is my character's introduction in the film. I tried my best. I just danced on the song. I didn't choreograph it. Two young guys, Rahul and Paul, have choreographed it. They have also danced with me in the song and they both are good," he said.
The song also sees lead actor Varun Dhawan shaking a leg with him. "Varun is a brilliant dancer. I feel more than a dancer, he is very sweet as a person. He is such a hardworking boy," Prabhu Deva said.
Apart from ABCD 2, which is releasing on June 19, Prabhu Deva is also busy shooting for Singh is Bliing, in which he is directing Akshay Kumar.
The film has wrapped up its Punjab and Goa leg of shootings and is expected to hit theatres on October 2.
