Prachi started working at the age of 17.

Bollywood actress Prachi Desai says her mother has sacrificed "her dreams for me and I owe everything to her". She adds that she has yet to visit a theatre with her mom.
The 24-year-old, who started working at the age of 17, said her mother has been her pillar of strength.
"My mother used to teach in my hometown, Panchgani. She left her career and house just to be with me in Mumbai. I was too young at that time. And she supported me throughout," the actress told reporters.
Prachi's debut vehicle was TV shows Kasamh Se and after that she took big leap with movies Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai and Rock On.
The actress, who often receives compliments that she resembles her mother, knows everything about her mother: "Her favourite colours are white and blue. I have never watched a film with her, but her favourite movies are Kati Patang and Mera Saya."
The actress was here with her mother Amita Desai to launch a survey on mothers done by P&G Thank You, Mom on the occasion of Mothers Day (May 12).
She admitted never giving importance ot her mother's dreams. "My mother always thinks about me and the family. But I never asked her about her dreams. She says she wants me and my sister to be happy and successful," said Prachi.
On Mother's Day, Prachi wants her mom to visit Panchgani.
"I want them to visit Panchgani, where we lived and grew up. They love the place. They will relive their beautiful memories of staying in the house," she said wistfully.
Though Prachi's mother is proud of how her daughter for balancing her personal and professional life, but complains that the actress doesn't take care of herself.
"She neglects her health while working, so I keep telling her to eat on time etc," said Amita.
Disagreeing with mother, Prachi said: "It's actually vice-versa, my mother keeps doing so much for us. She pampers me so much that in the process she doesn't take care of her health."
Prachi is presently busy shooting Policegiri and Rock On 2.
