Mumbai: Filmmaker Prakash Jha, who alwaysuses the backdrop of politics or political issues for hisstories, is ready with his latest offering Chakravyuh whichexplores Naxal insurgency.
"My message is to be able to understand the whole issueof Naxalism Why, What, How. To bring into limelight thetragedy that is unfolding every single day in the larger partof our country," Jha told reporters here.
"If you ask me for solution, I would say if you have beenable to diagnose the issues with open eyes and mind, solutionswill come. It was important to look into this matter and bringit into public domain. Everyone is suffering because of this.We felt the timing was right for this film," he added.
The 60-year-old Gangaajal director has also met a fewNaxals.
"I have been meeting them even before we started workingon this film. They are just like all of us. They sayopportunities should be equal for everyone, they want everyoneshould benefit from the society.
"So in this battle I agree with them, but yes, the way ofdoing things is not right. There should be discussions anddebate," Jha said.
Actor Abhay Deol plays the role of a young rebel,newcomer Anjali Patil and veteran Manoj Bajpayee play Naxaliteleaders, and Om Puri plays a professor in the film, whileArjun Rampal plays a police officer.
"I am fortunate enough to get a good mix of actors. Forthe role of cop, Arjun Rampal was someone who came to mindimmediately. Even before I developed the script fully Iblocked his dates.
"For Abhay's character we were thinking we need someonewho could be vulnerable and yet do action, someone who does aU-turn and becomes most dangerous person. Manoj Bajpayee andOm Puri are brilliant. While Esha Gupta and Anjali Patil fitthe bill."
