Duchess Catherine has pulled out of a number of upcoming engagements.
The royal -who is expecting her first child with husband Prince William - was admitted to hospital as she is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum [severe morning sickness] and has decided to cancel events on Wednesday (05.12.12), Saturday (08.12.12) and Sunday (09.12.12) in order to rest.
A representative for Buckingham Palace said: "The duchess will not be attending the public engagements this week, as she will be in hospital for a few days and will then need to rest."
Meanwhile, William's uncle Earl Spencer - the brother of his late mother Princess Diana - has congratulated the couple on their impending arrival.
He said: "It is wonderful news and I am thrilled for them both."

"The Duchess was admitted this afternoon to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London with Hyperemesis Gravidarum [morning sickness]. As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter."
