A still from Prem Ratan Dhan Payo
Mumbai:
Actor Salman Khan says his much-anticipated Diwali release Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is not about box-office numbers or frantic promotions but a film which every person should watch with the entire family. (Also Read: Censors Object to a Word in 'Clean' Barjatya's Prem Ratan Dhan Payo)
"This film is not about numbers or promotion. This film is about 'go and see it with the family'. Get everyone together, make it like the time when we would go for picnics with family, make this one outing with the whole parivaar. Trust me, you'll love it. It's a full-on entertaining film," Salman said at a press meet.
All three of Salman's films with director Sooraj Barjatya -- Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and Hum Saath Saath Hain -- saw Salman playing a character in love, with family values forming an important element of his life.
Sooraj Barjatya says he wants to take Salman back to that space.
Mr Barjatya's films are known to be very clean family films and even with negative characters around, the film is on the whole very positive.
But Salman wanted Prem Ratan Dhan Payo to be even purer than what was written by Sooraj Barjatya.
In fact, the film's villain, played by Armaan Kohli dies in the end, but Salman wanted him to live. The writers eventually didn't change it. Sooraj Barjatya said, "That's what Salman believes, make it (film) as pure and pure."
Salman added, "In a Sooraj Barjatya film, if we cannot turn the negative into positive, then what. That (change in script) would've been so lovely. In the midst of such positivity, one negative person, that should not be."
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which also stars Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Anupam Kher, and Swara Bhaskar, releases on November 12.
