New Delhi:

Priyanka Chopra, who is currently on a trip to Poland to meet Ukrainian refugees, has written an appreciation post for UNICEF's “commitment, persistence, dedication and compassion.” Priyanka, who is associated with UNICEF for quite some time now,  has stated, “Every trip I make with UNICEF reinforces my faith in the goodness of humanity.” The actress started her long note with a quote by Maya Angelou. “I think a hero is any person really intent on making this a better place for all people.” Talking about the efforts of UNICEF volunteers, she said, “I have met so many heroes in the past few days… they are the men and women of UNICEF, the volunteers, partners, and everyone who has come together in this time of need. I am consistently awestruck by their commitment, persistence, dedication, compassion, and ingenuity even to help those who need it the most.”

Highlight UNICEF's quick action during the Ukraine crisis, Priyanka Chopra added, “The Ukraine crisis began in February, and team UNICEF responded immediately, mobilising their resources to set up operations within weeks to assist refugees coming into Poland, Romania, Moldova, and other countries in the region.”

On how UNICEF set up an office within a short time in Poland, Priyanka Chopra said, “At the start of the conflict, there was no UNICEF office in Poland, but in a very short time, UNICEF staff from all over the world came in, some with just a day's notice, to Poland to get the wheels in motion.”

Priyanka Chopra also quoted Rashed Mustafa, UNICEF's Country Coordinator (Poland), in her post. “We were building the plane as we were flying it.” - Rashed Mustafa.”

She concluded the note by saying, “Thank you for all that you do… you are my heroes”.

In the comment section, Priyanka Chopra added, “Words cannot do justice to the critical, lifesaving work of each individual from UNICEF and their partners and volunteers, but I hope in some way to shine a light on their efforts.”

Take a look:

Previously, Priyanka Chopra had shared a post where she can be seen spending time with Ukrainian children. She said, “The kids I met on this mission love working with art. Coffee beans, salts and regular household items are used for art therapy and sensitivity therapy. When they work with different materials, as well as paints and colours, the therapists are able to understand their emotions. In the beginning, for example, the children would draw with very dark colours, and over time the colours got brighter. Another example is handmade dolls that I was gifted by Ukrainian children at each Programme I visited with UNICEF.  Each is unique and is believed to have the power of protection, which these children really need right now as the war is upending the lives and futures of the country's 5.7 million school-aged children.”

Priyanka Chopra, during one of her visits, said that “the invisible wounds of war are the ones we don't usually see on the news.”

On the work front, Priyanka Chopra will next be seen in Citadel and the Bollywood film Jee Le Zaraa.
