Makers of the upcoming Agent Vinod refuted the claim made by an Iranian music band, whichsaid that there are similarities between film's Pungi BajaDe and their number Soosan Khanoom.
Barobax Corp, a music company, founded by three Iraniannationals, has slapped a legal notice against the makers ofthe soon-to-be-released Bollywood action-spy movie, AgentVinod, for allegedly infringing their copyright over theprelude used in the catchy Pungi Baja de track from thefilm.
The music band has alleged that the initial portion ofthe song Pungi from Agent Vinod, which has become a ragenow, has been "lifted without any change" from the title song-- Soosan Khanoom of their album.
However, in an interview, producer of AgentVinod, Dinesh Vijan denied this claim.
"There is no similarity between the two tracks. It'sjust that for the first, three-four seconds of the groovecannot be patented anywhere else. For once, Pritam's melody isoriginal," Vijan said.
"If you listen to both the tracks, you will come toknow there is no similarity, except for the first three-fourseconds," he said.
The Iranian music band, in a notice, had demanded themusic director, producers and directors to refrain fromreleasing the song in the movie. The band had said they wouldbe compelled to initiate proceedings to seek a restrainingorder and necessary compensation.
"There are two versions of the song, the one that willbe there in the film, has nothing to do with the song of thesinging group so they cannot do anything about it. We willreply in the right manner," Vijan said.
