Indian Idol winner Vipul Mehta
Amritsar:
Punjab Revenue and Public Relations Minister Bikram Singh Majithia felicitated Amritsar boy Vipul Mehta for winning the title of Indian Idol 6.
Mr Majithia said that it was not easy to win the title as there were many budding talents across the country who were performing in the competition.
"Vipul's performance was unmatchable. Amritsar has already given top icons to Indian Cinema including world renowned actors Rajesh Khanna, Dara Singh and legendary singer Mohammad Rafi and now Vipul is going to add a new feather in the cap," he added.
The other two participants of final round Davinder Pal Singh and Amit Kumar were also from Ludhiana and Amritsar respectively.
He said that this unique performance and achievement of Vipul would not only give a boost to the music industry of Punjab but also motivate the youngsters towards music.
Vipul, who was named the winner at the Indian Idol 6 grand finale on Saturday night, hails from Amritsar in Punjab. He started learning classical music from the age of eight.
