Tamil actor Dhanush's Bollywood debut Raanjhanaa, which also features Sonam Kapoor, has minted Rs 20.08 crore on its opening weekend in the country.
The film, reportedly made at a budget of Rs 35 crore, released worldwide on June 21.
"The total weekend collection of Raanjhanaa in India is Rs 20.08 crore," said a statement from Eros International, the producers of the film.
The love story of a Hindu boy and a Muslim girl, Raanjhanaa also features Swara Bhaskar, Abhay Deol and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub in important role.
The film is directed by Anand L Rai, and has music by AR Rahman.
The Tamil dubbed version of the film titled Ambikapathy is scheduled to release in Tamil Nadu June 28 in more than 200 screens.
