Mumbai: Raj Kumar Yadav, whose film Shahidon human rights lawyer Shahid Azmi recently hit screens, feels that having a superstar on board for promoting orpresenting a movie does not necessarily guarantee success.

Much before the film released superstar Aamir Khan hadseen the trailer of the film and decided to support the movie.

The actor-filmmaker had also posted the film trailer onhis official Facebook page.

"Every film has its own destiny. We were happy when he(Aamir) supported our film. But I feel having a superstardoesn't guarantee success. We have seen in the past films ofsuperstar have not done well commercially.. So there is noguarantee. We are proud of the film," he told PTI.

The 29-year-old played the central character of Shahidin Hansal Mehta's film which released on October 18 and wasmade at a budget of Rs 86 lakh and has approximately earned Rs3.40 crore.

"We were confident while making the film. We are happywith the response that we are getting for Shahid and my hardwork is appreciated. Even Shahid Azmi's family have liked thefilm...it feels nice. Commercial success is definitely importantfor any actor but I would want both respect and commercialsuccess of films," he added.

The actor agrees that the recently concluded MumbaiAcademy of Moving Images (MAMI) did hamper the business ofShahid as movie buffs were busy watching films at thefestival here.

But he also seems optimistic as the film is still runningin cinema houses and audiences can go and watch it.

Raj Kumar will be seen next opposite Kangana Ranaut inQueen, a comedy-drama directed by Vikas Bahl and CityLights by Ajay Bahl of B A Pass fame.

"In Queen, Kangana and I play a couple who later havesome problem in their relationship. It is a sweet, cute lovestory. I had great time working with her, she is nserior to mework wise but she never made me feel it. He made me feelcomfortable and respects my work. She is talented andgrounded and I think Queen is going to be her best film andperformance," Raj Kumar said.

"City Lights is about a couple from a small town ofHimachal Pradesh coming to Mumbai. I am looking forward toboth the films," he added.
