Chennai:
Superstar Rajinikanth, who is recuperating from a reported kidney ailment, returned home to a rousing reception amidst indications that the shooting for his suspended period film Raana, could resume by October.
Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK patriarch M. Karunanidhi, who has been in the know since the inception of Rajinikanth's illness, personally called up the veteran actor to enquire about his health.
In return, the gracious superstar, known for his impeccable manners and well rounded concern, asked about the ex-CM's health and daughter Kanimozhi, who is currently languishing in Delhi's Tihar Jail over her role in the 2G spectrum scam.
Meanwhile, it's another day at work for Rajinikanth, as he is said to re-start talks with directors over pending assignments, including the ambitious Raana.
"The superstar is likely to hold discussions (with director) as he would take rest for the next few months. The shooting for Rana may resume by October-November," film industry sources said today.
After six weeks of treatment in Singapore, the actor returned to Chennai last night to scores of fans' loud cheers and chanting of "Thalaiva"( leader).
At the airport, a smiling and spectacled actor, sporting stubble, greeted his fans with folded hands, a trademark Rajini style, telling them all was well with the 61 year-old star.
On April 29, the first day of the shooting of K S Ravikumar-directed Rana, co-starring Deepika Padukone, Rajinikanth had suffered from exhaustion after which he was hospitalised twice in different hospitals in the city.
However, he was flown to Singapore to undergo treatment for reported kidney ailment in May, even as his die-hard fans took to special prayers for his speedy recovery.
He had acknowledged that it was the love of his fans which saved him.
