New Delhi:

Rajinikanth's latest release Jailer is unstoppable. The film, which marked the superstar's return to the big screens after two years, has collected more than Rs 600 crore at the box office (worldwide). As per a post shared by trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan on X, formerly known as Twitter, Rajinikanth has received an envelope that “contains a single cheque amounting Rs 100 crore” from Kalanithi Maran, chairman of the production house, Sun Pictures. Sharing a picture of Rajinikanth and Kalanithi Maran, Manobala Vijayabalan wrote, “Info coming in that, the envelope handed over by Kalanithi Maran to superstar Rajinikanth contains a single cheque amounting ₹100 crore from City Union Bank, Mandaveli branch, Chennai. This is a Jailer profit sharing cheque which is up and above the already paid remuneration [₹110 crore] to the superstar for the movie. Total: ₹210 crore. Making superstar Rajinikanth the highest-paid actor in India.” FYI: Jailer was backed by Sun Pictures.

On Thursday, Rajinikath's Jailer crossed the “Rs 625 crore milestone mark” at the worldwide box office. Sharing a picture of Rajinikanth on social media, Manobala Vijayabalan wrote, “Jailer worldwide box office…zooms past ₹625 crore milestone mark in just 22 days. Now, the race begins toward the ₹650 crore club. ||#600CrJailer|#Rajinikanth #ShivaRajKumar | #Mohanlal|| Week 1 - ₹450.80 crore, Week 2 - ₹124.18 crore, Week 3 - ₹47.05 crore, Week 4 Day 1 - ₹3.92 crore. Total - ₹625.95 crore.”

Jailer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, stars Rajinikanth as a retired police officer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Mohanlal (special appearance), Jackie Shroff, Shivarajkumar, Yogi Babu, and Vasanth Ravi are also part of the film, which was released on August 10.

Film critic Saibal Chatterjee, in his review for NDTV, gave the Rajinikanth-starrer 2.5 stars. He said, “In Jailer, he [Rajinikanth] operates all across India because he has friends everywhere. That is where Mohanlal and Jackie Shroff come in. The guest stars do their bit and move on. It is left to Rajinikanth to shoulder the weight of the erratic script. Playing an age-appropriate character, the septuagenarian star pulls his weight all the way through in a role that, despite the absence of the customary vim and vigour, fits him like a glove.”

Rajinikanth will be next seen in Lal Salaam, helmed by his daughter Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth.
