Rajkummar was keen to work with Vidya
Actors Rajkummar Rao and Vidya Balan will play husband and wife in director Mohit Suri's Hamari Adhuri Kahani. The film's producer Mukesh Bhatt has confirmed the same.
"We started shooting with Vidya Balan in Kolkata on Ashtami and Emraan Hashmi joined us on October 5. Rajkummar Rao is also a part of the film; he is playing Vidya's husband," said Mukesh.
Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi have had a mixed record so far. While their The Dirty Picture (2011), for which Vidya won her National Film Award, was a major blockbuster, last year's Ghanchakkar was a failure.
This is the first time Vidya and Rajkummar, who won a National Film Award for Shahid (2013), will be sharing screen space. Rajkummar was keen to work with Vidya and took the role even though he won't have major screentime.
The first schedule of the film will be completed in Kolkata with the rest of the shooting to take place in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Cape Town. The film, which is said to be inspired from the life of Mahesh Bhatt, is slated for a June 2015 release.
