As he gears up for his next Hindirelease Department, actor Rana Daggubati says he wants toconcentrate on his Bollywood career without overlooking Telugucinema.
The 27-year-old debuted in Bollywood alongside BipashaBasu and Abhishek Bachchan in 2011 film Dum Maaro Dum. His next, a copdrama, has been directed by Ram Gopal Varma and is expected tohit screens in May.
"I am very happy that I have been accepted. It is greatto be noticed in the big ocean of Hindi films. I see so manynewcomers coming everyday, they shine once and go away.Thankfully, it did not happen to me. I immediately got abigger film Department which is an action film, a genrewhich I like very much," Rana said.
The actor, who plays a cop in the film, says it was adifficult role to play because the character demanded a lot ofsubtlety.
"My character's name is Shiv Narayan in the film. Everyword and every gesture that he has is very controlled. It isextremely intense. It is a completely clean and whitecharacter."
Meanwhile, Rana who started his career with Telugu filmLeader in 2010, is awaiting the release of his next filmdown South.
"I have not really moved away from Telugu. I have beenconstantly doing films. My next film Naa Ishtam with Geneliais out for release in the last week of March. It is a lovestory of a selfish man. There are only two truths in the worldone is selfishness and the other is love and that's what thestory is about."
Rana, the grandson of veteran film producer D Ramanaidu,virtually grew up on a film set. He already had a body of workbefore he joined Bollywood, which has helped the actor a lot.
"I have done comedy, action, political drama in my 5-6films. I have played varied role and the advantage that I haveis that I have not been typecast in an image."
Rana says being a part of film family, cinema felt like anormal job and gradually he educated himself into differentaspects of film making.
"For many people films may seem mysterious but because Iwas part of a film family, it felt like any normal job. Ifound myself more knowledgeable than others about it. Istarted working when I was 17. I have already produced a film.I also want to direct at some point of time. I feel I am stillgrowing up in cinema."
Rana will begin shooting his next, Krishnam VandeJagadgurum, in Telugu.
"Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum is an action film and I amlooking forward to it. I play the character of B.Tech Babu. Helives in a small place and is slightly more educated thanothers. It is about the journey of his life."
He is also looking forward to do films in Tamil.
