Randeep Hooda was last seen on the silver screen in Kick
New Delhi:
Actor Randeep Hooda has been cast as Sarabjit Singh, the Indian who died in a Pakistani jail, in director Omung Kumar's biopic.
The Mary Kom director made the announcement on Twitter:
Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will play Sarabjit's sister Dalbir Kaur, who campaigned for years to have him taken off death row.
Sarabjit Singh, an Indian resident of the Bhikhiwind village at the Indo-Pak border, was convicted as a terrorist by Pakistan's Supreme Court in 1991. After 22 years on death row, he was attacked by fellow inmates in jail and died in a Lahore hospital six days later.
Randeep Hooda, star of films such as Highway and Kick, was last seen in Rang Rasiya, a biopic of artist Raja Ravi Verma.
Aishwarya's comeback film Jazbaa will release in October, the same month that the biopic of Sarabjit Singh begins shooting in Punjab.
