Rani Mukerji Dodges Questions About Underworld
A still from Mardaani
Actress Rani Mukerji, who plays a fearless cop in the recently released movie Mardaani, tried to dodge questions related to the underworld at a press event. While she plays a bold, blunt woman in the movie, she managed to find an escape route from the controversial topic saying she would rather give preference to talk about her movie.

Recently, actor Shah Rukh Khan was given additional protection by the Mumbai police as he was being threatened by the underworld, and gunmen fired at the home of his close associate, producer Karim Morani.

And while the UP government is supporting Rani's endeavor to support women inflicted with violence, by giving Mardaani a tax free status in the state, it seems the actress herself prefers staying away from risky topics. Well, fearless to frightened Rani?

Nevertheless, the actress did speak her mind when it came to issues related to her movie. Mardaani is the first Yash Raj movie to have received an A-certificate, which has not gone down well with Rani. Finding the entire censorship issue hypocritical, she told that the movie is based on mostly 12-year-olds to 16-year-olds being pushed into child trafficking and they should have been allowed to watch the movie in theatres.

Rani stated the fact that a girl is abducted every eight minutes in our country. Talking about the good response her movie is receiving, she shared some of her experiences with parents who have been appreciating her effort to bring this social menace to light through the film. She also added that youngsters can relate to the lack of security for women in our country.
