Chennai: South Indian actress Ranjitha, who was alleged to have been filmed in a compromising position with self-styled Godman Nithyananda, today filed a complaint with police, alleging that her pictures were morphed.
She alleged that the pictures showing her with Nithyananda were morphed, city police commissioner JK Tripathy said.
The actress had also complained that some persons had demanded money from her to stop airing the video, he said.
The case had been referred to the central crime branch (CCB) of the city police, he said.
Last week, the Nithyananda Ashram had filed a police complaint accusing Sun Network of morphing and telecasting visuals showing Nithyananda in a compromising position with the actress in March last year.
Nithyananda was arrested last year after various channels telecast the purported video footage which the ashram had described as a "conspiracy" to malign his reputation.
It had claimed that the images were "morphed" and alleged that the ashram inmates were subjected to physical attacks in various places after the video footage was aired.
Nithyananda, who also faced criminal charges including rape, was arrested from Himachal Pradesh after remaining elusive for several weeks. The case registered in this connection is pending in a court in Ramanagara near Bangalore.
Saxena is already in police custody in a cheating case filed by a Salem-based film distributor.
