Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has been signed to star in the Hindi remake of award winning Telugu film Magadheera, which had Chiranjeevi Junior Ram Charan Teja.
The rights of the S S Rajamouli directed historical romantic drama, have been bought by Vikas Bahl and Anurag Kashyap's company.
"Magadheera is a passion project for us at Phantom and we are happy to have the rights to re-create this magical piece of work, that blew us. Ranveer is the best thing that could have happened to it. He has all the ingredients to be a passionate lover a warrior and an entertainer all at the same time. All the biggest fans of Magadheera are coming together to re-live its magic with the support of Allu Aravind (producer of the original film)," said Bahl.
Before confirming Ranveer, there were strong rumours that actor Ranbir Kapoor was do the film.
Magadheera will go on floors this year with a budget of 50 crores.
Bahl is yet to sign an actress opposite Ranveer and a director to helm the ambitious project. The Band Bajaa Baaraat actor is currently shooting for Lootera, the first film to come out of the newly formed production house.
