Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is basking in the success of his latest release Bajirao Mastani, dismissed rumours that he has signed actor Ranveer Singh for the remake of Subhash Ghai's 1993 hit film Khalnayak.
"No, not at all. That's totally incorrect," Mr Bhansali said at the Renault Sony Guild Awards 2015 held in Mumbai.
There were reports that Mr Bhansali is keen to remake Mr Ghai's 1993 film and that he's planning to buy its rights. For now, the Ram Leela director is elated with the response to his latest period piece. (Also Read: Khalnayak May be Remade But by Bhansali, Not Johar)
"We have worked really hard on this film so it feels really good to get appreciated. The team had worked really hard on this film," he said.
Bajirao Mastani, starring Ranveer, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, has minted Rs 100 crore worldwide and is going strong in theatres, with positive word of mouth. It released alongside superstar Shah Rukh Khan's Dilwale on December 18.
