Ranveer will next be seen in Ram Leela opposite Deepika Padukone.
Mumbai:
Actor Ranveer Singh stopped watching television and using his cellphone while preparing for his forthcoming release Lootera, a period romance drama.
Set in the 1950s, the Vikramaditya Motwane directed film will see Ranveer playing an archeologist.
"It was very interesting to do a period film because a new world is created. I had no clue about 1950s, so to live a character who is living in that era, was very interesting," said Ranveer.
"I did very interesting preparation before playing the character. I stopped watching television and using mobile," said the actor.
"I became very calm. I have given a very calm performance," he added.
His last release was 2011 hit Ladies vs Ricky Bahl and Ranveer wants to end the 'long wait' with Lootera. Featuring Sonakshi Sinha in the female lead, the film is slated for a July 5 release.
"My film is releasing after a very long time, it's been 19 months when my last film was released. It's been a long wait. I have seen the film and I am very happy. I am very excited and can't wait for people to see it," said the 27-year-old who made his debut with blockbuster Band Baaja Baaraat in 2010.
