Ranveer Singh at GQ Awards in Mumbai.
New Delhi:
Earlier this month, Ranveer Singh walked out of the airport sporting clean shaven look and the guesswork began on why Ranveer opted for this jaw-dropping transformation. The 32-year-old actor confirmed on Friday that it is for his new film Padmavati, in which he plays the role of Alaudin khilji. "I shaved off my beard to shoot young Alauddin's portion and I really miss my beard," Ranveer told news agency IANS on Friday at GQ Awards. The actor was given the 'Entertainer of The Year' award. Padmavati won't be an easy film and the actor told IANS: "There are lots of expectations with 'Padmavati'... Film is shaping up really well. I am very excited about the film."
The first look of Padmavati, featuring Deepika Padukone, took the Internet by storm a couple of days ago. "Now slowly material will start to come. Deepika's look has been launched then Shahid's (Shahid Kapoor plays Deepika's onscreen husband) and my look will also be out and after that trailer of the film will get release," Ranveer told IANS. The makers released to posters of the film, which was liked and appreciated by the social media. Some Twitter users had a problem with Deepika's unibrow while some loved it. Soon after the first look of Padmavati rocked social media, a member of the Rajput Karni Sena told IANS that they won't let the film release if the filmmakers have distorted historical facts. "They are trying to defame Padmavati by distorting historical facts. It is not acceptable."
Padmavati is releasing on December 1.
