Actor Ranvir Shorey gained 20 kilosto play the protagonist in Rajat Kapoor's upcoming filmFatso.
The film, which also stars Gul Panag, Purab Kohli, NeilBhoopalam and Gunjan Bakshi in lead roles will hit thetheatres on May 4.
"For Fatso I had to gain 15-20 kilos. Initially it wasneeded to gain the weight as we couldn't afford prostheticsand make up around chin, neck and arms. I did wear a fat suitfor the body but the face too needed to look proportionate," Ranvir said.
"Although it was a health risk, I went ahead. In fact,I've even got high blood pressure due to the weight I put onsuddenly. If it hadn't been Rajat Kapoor's film, maybe Iwouldn't have done it. It's my third film with Rajat andthat's why I have implicit faith in him," the 39-year-oldsaid.
The actor also said that he practised Kalaripayattu, amartial art form that was born in Kerala for over a year toshed the weight.
"Gaining weight wasn't tough, losing it was for which Ihave worked really hard. For almost a year I practicedKalaripayattu to shed the flab," Shorey added.
The film has been included in various International FilmFestivals including South Asian Film Festival in New York,Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles and Shanghai InternationalFilm Festival.
