Los Angeles: Rapper Nate Dogg, the longtime friend and collaborator of Snoop Dogg, has died.

Nate, whose real name was Nathaniel D Hale, was 41. The cause of his death is unknown, the Hollywood Reporter said.

Nate worked with top recording artists including Snoop, Warren G, 50 Cent and Eminem and is best known for his 1994 hit 'Regulate'.

As a producer and rapper, he took part in one of the biggest hip-hop singles of the 1990s 'Regulate' with Warren G.

The song reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1994. Nate had suffered from persistent health problems, including two strokes, one in 2007 and another in 2008.
