The prestigious 58th National Film Awards will be presented today in Delhi. The winners of the prestigious awards, recognizing exemplary work in Indian cinema, were announced in May this year.
This year's National Film Awards puts regional cinema in focus with Malayalam film Adaminte Makan Abu, winning Best Feature and its lead actor Salim Kumar picking up the Best Actor award. He shares the Best Actor award with Tamil star Dhanush for Aadukalam.
Among the big winners are Dabangg director Abhinav Kashyap, who takes home the Wholesome Entertainer of the Year award. However, many would identify Dabangg with Salman Khan who is now sweeping the box office with his latest release, Bodyguard.
Vishal Bharadwaj's score for Ishqiya bagged the award for the Best Music Director while his wife Rekha bagged the award for Best Playback Singer. Quite a musical family this! Talking about keeping talent in the family, the Rishi and Neetu Kapoor starrer Do Dooni Chaar has been crowned the Best Hindi Film for 2010.
Veteran Tamil filmmaker K. Balachander, the director of hits like Ek Duuje Ke Liye, Sindhu Bhairavi and who has won numerous National and Filmfare awards, has been conferred the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for 2010 for his outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema.
